Why I become a Post-partum Doula?
This is my story. When my daughter was born, I felt ashamed of how the birth went. I had so many expectations, and the reality was so different from what I had imagined. During that period, I cried a lot. I had a large episiotomy, struggled with breastfeeding, and slowly began to adjust to this new version of myself, discovering myself in this new role, returning to work, and maintaining my relationship. I knew I needed to heal something deep within me. And so began my journey. I became a postpartum doula and a pre- and postnatal yoga teacher. I created Seed of Life with my beloved friend Rosanna, and my path grew stronger and stronger. I specialize in breastfeeding, massage, pregnancy loos & differnet rituals.
Being a postpartum doula is a very important part of my life. I love supporting families during this precious time, and it is an honor for me to be there for such a vulnerable and raw period.
Postpartum
Postpartum doulas are individuals trained in assisting families in the postpartum period, generally the period of three months after the birth (known as the fourth trimester). My job is to support in integrating this new little person into the family and help the family find a way of balancing itself with an additional member. I provide support, not only to the person who gave birth but to the partners, siblings, and other family members. This period of time can come with many unexpected challenges and having someone around to provide support and guidance can be especially useful.
Parents that get support during the postpartum period benefit in several ways:
-They feel more cared for and secure in their roles.
-They adapt more easily to shifting family dynamics.
-They have more success when it comes to breastfeeding.
-Their self-confidence is higher.
-There is a lower risk of postpartum depression.

Forty-two days for forty-two years, which means that the way a mother is nourished for the first six weeks after birth can determine how successfully she gives her light for the next four decades.
“I had the pleasure of partnering Mili for post partum support, and she is fantastic. So kind, intuitive, easygoing, empathetic, and offers support without judgement. She suggested some ideas that my partner and I plan to implement to make our lives smoother with our first baby. Thank you so much for shining your light on our family, Mili! ”

"Having Mili as my postpartum doula was an incredible experience that truly transformed my recovery after my second c-section, especially being without family in Lisbon. From the moment she arrived, Mili was kind, open-hearted, and deeply attentive, ensuring I felt supported every step of the way.
Mili's communication was consistent and effective, making it easy to express my needs and concerns. Her culinary skills were remarkable, as she prepared delicious and nourishing meals that helped restore my energy and well-being. Additionally, her massages were exactly what I needed, offering relief and comfort during those early days.
What set Mili apart were her thoughtful gestures, such as bringing flowers or picking up groceries and introducing me to yoni steams, which provided a soothing and healing effect. Mili was more than a doula. She was genuinely a shoulder to cry on when emotions overwhelmed me.
Thanks to Mili, my postpartum period was not just about healing physically but also nurturing my spirit, making the experience far better than I could have hoped for."

Mili 💕 I had such a fantastic nap after you left. Thank you thank you, thank YOU for being so present and tender with my body. I truly feel safe and comforted throughout the sessions that I’ve had with you so far. I’m grateful for your support on this journey of return and renewal that I’m currently experiencing in this phase of postpartum. Thank you also for sustaining such a high level of attentiveness for the massage session with my mum. She was singing your praise after you left!

I can't get pregnant anymore. This is a story for another moment. It was very hard for me to accept that I would not have that possibility anymore. I can still feel my body suffering because of that. I know it's a bit different, but life put me here and my heart is to support women and couples on this journey, to give a voice, and to heal and to be there. Whatever your situation is, it has a big impact on your life: could be a loss of expectations, dreams, fears or disappointment. To be there for a family is to be there for them, without any judgment and with an open heart.

The feeling of gratitude for your work will forever reverberate inside and outside of me. The sessions with you were a balm that soothed an open wound in a still fragile body, in a still frightened soul. I felt the possibility of strengthening and regenerating myself. You welcomed my pain and helped me transform it. It was a miraculous process.
I think it would be very important for all women who experience a pregnancy loss to have the opportunity to be accompanied by someone like you, with your knowledge, delicacy and capacity for acceptance. It was exactly an experience like this that I needed in order to move towards acceptance and peace.
Many thanks dear Milagros
